How the Compounding Effect of Time Blindness Hurts People with ADHD

People with ADHD struggle with perceiving time.

Often, we are only aware of two different times: "now" and "not now." This causes us to be late to meetings, miss appointments, and neglect work until it's almost too late.

And on top of that, problem starts to compound because we often overcommit.

Our difficulties with time make it impossible to know how much we are currently committed to. We stack far too many new activities on our plate. Our schedule fills up with activities we can't track. Time disappears but we remain blissfully unaware.

We're juggling chainsaws and keep adding more to the act. Eventually, it all comes violently crashing down.

We need to recognize that every demand and every opportunity is eating away our time.

We need to start saying no.

If you're not saying, "Hell yeah!" about something, say no. When deciding whether to do something, if you feel anything less than, "Wow! That would be amazing! Absolutely! Hell yeah!" then say no.

We need to reclaim that fear, and realize that FOMO is simply another word for ROBO.
